i propose a variation on the "official misdirection" narrative in which David Grusch is an AI character construct with a deep-faked career and bonafides. and so are the aliens! get your head around the prospect of internet conspiracy theorists analyzing alien autopsy footage to prove that first contact was a government fabrication.
it looks like we're not getting out of it that easily, unfortunately... best theory i've heard so far is that it's legitimate info, but it's being deliberately leaked because a rival country (maybe China) successfully reverse-engineered some tech before the US did, and this is an attempt to level the playing field and push for international agreements before they get too far ahead.
