This section has some of the best descriptive writing of the story so far. That opening paragraph is a real banger. There's a few other gems in here as well.
thanks very much! glad you're enjoying the story so far.
out of curiosity—from a technical standpoint, how does the length of each section feel? i'm trying to keep each installment short and snappy, so it doesn't feel like homework. not sure if i'm erring too much on the side of brevity.
As someone with a 2-year old and a 2-month old, I've find the lengths to be very manageable to engage with. If they were longer, I could certainly find time to read after bedtimes, but it's nice to sit down with something a little more brief throughout the day.
Did you write with specific sections breaks in mind or have you been breaking them up based on length after the fact? It seems like you've been intentionally ending on a piece that leads into the next (such as "and that's how we ended up with Henry.").

ahhh, brother, i feel for you... ours are 3 and 5 years old, and we're just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. hang in there.
i did start writing this with serialization in mind, but i'm also playing it by ear as i go along. i'm glad it's working for you.
and thank you so much for spending any of your *extremely* valuable waking moments of child-free time reading my stuff.
